Mach 5i Acquires CertDuty, Integrating Live Credential Verification Technology into Defenders Platform
CertDuty founder Nick Scott joins Defenders Platform to lead credentialing technology and workflows as DPI scales its patent-pending verified professional ecosystem nationwide.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — September 29, 2026
Mach 5i Inc., the parent holding company of Defenders Platform Inc. (DPI), today announced the acquisition of CertDuty, a mobile credentialing application that enabled live verification of California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) guard registrations and licenses. The transaction, which closed in May 2026, brings CertDuty’s technology and its founder directly into the Defenders Platform organization.
CertDuty was developed as a standalone beta application — available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play — and was among the first tools to provide real-time BSIS credential checking directly from a mobile device. The acquisition positions Defenders Platform to embed that live verification capability into the core of its patent-pending technology stack, which assigns, credential-verifies, and automatically activates backup professionals at the role level before a deployment begins.
Nick Scott, CertDuty’s founder, has joined Defenders Platform full-time and now oversees the platform’s credentialing technology and verification workflows. His work will directly support DPI’s Credentials Portfolio system, badge verification infrastructure, and the integration of real-time license status checking across all U.S. markets where the platform operates.
“CertDuty solved a real problem that the industry has largely ignored — knowing, in real time, whether the person in front of you is actually licensed to be there. Bringing Nick and that technology inside Defenders Platform means our credential verification is no longer just document-based. It is live, it is accurate, and it is built into every deployment we coordinate.”
The integration of CertDuty’s technology reinforces Defenders Platform’s position as the security industry’s first verified professional ecosystem. Where traditional staffing and deployment models rely on paper copies or self-reported credentials, DPI’s system requires verified, badged credentials before a professional can be assigned to an open role — with live license status checks now adding a further layer of confirmation that credentials are current and in good standing at the time of deployment.
“I built CertDuty because I saw how easy it was for outdated or invalid credentials to slip through. Joining Defenders Platform means that technology now operates at scale, inside a system that was purpose-built to make verified deployment the standard — not the exception.”
The acquisition also strengthens DPI’s credentialing framework as the platform expands beyond its California and West Coast footprint across the U.S. market and, ultimately, internationally. Real-time BSIS verification will serve as the foundation for similar integrations with other state and national licensing authorities as DPI’s market coverage grows.
